Tarosyn is rated 17+ on the Apple App Store and Mature (17+) on Google Play. This page explains what content earned that rating, how we verify a user's age, and how we enforce the minimum age requirement throughout the app.

1. rating drivers — what earned the 17+ rating

Store ratings reflect the most mature content a user may encounter. The following content categories drove the Tarosyn 17+ rating:

Frequent / Intense Mature and Suggestive Themes — Tarot is a practice rooted in mythology, symbolism, and the human experience. Card imagery and AI interpretations may address adult themes including mortality, desire, shadow self, and existential questions. Some card archetypes (e.g., The Tower, The Devil, The High Priestess) carry symbolism that is mature in nature. Infrequent / Mild Profanity — Tarosyn hosts user-generated content (UGC) in Chants, circles, and direct messages. Mild profanity may appear in that content despite our moderation controls. Infrequent / Mild Horror or Fear Themes — Certain card archetypes and reading contexts may involve imagery or language relating to fear, death, or the unknown — themes inherent to traditional tarot practice. User-Generated Content (UGC) — Tarosyn allows users to post publicly visible Chants, join community circles, and send direct messages. We moderate UGC but cannot review every post before it is published. The Apple App Store and Google Play require a UGC disclosure for any app that hosts social or community features.

2. minimum age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Tarosyn account or use Tarosyn's features. This minimum age applies globally and is enforced at account creation.

In jurisdictions where the age of digital consent or applicable child privacy laws require a higher minimum age (for example, GDPR Article 8 sets 16 in the EU/EEA, and COPPA covers children under 13 in the United States), the higher of 13 or the locally applicable age applies.

3. how we confirm and enforce age

Tarosyn uses a multi-layer age verification approach:

Date-of-birth collection — During email sign-up, you are required to provide your date of birth. Accounts where the stated date of birth indicates the user is under 13 are rejected at registration. Age confirmation for social sign-in — Users who sign up via Google, Apple, or other social providers are shown a mandatory age-confirmation screen before they can access the app. Confirming you are under 13 results in immediate account deletion and sign-out. Backfill gate for existing accounts — Legacy accounts that pre-date date-of-birth collection are shown a non-dismissable age gate the next time they open the app. This gate cannot be bypassed and must be completed before any app features are accessible. Server-side enforcement — Age checks are performed on the server, not just in the client UI. A user who tampers with the client-side flow will still be rejected at the API level. Bot accounts exempt — Internal system bots are exempt from the age gate as they are not human users and do not access user-facing content.

4. user-generated content and moderation

Because Tarosyn includes social features, we are required to disclose the presence of user-generated content as part of our store ratings. Here is how we handle it:

Users can report content that violates our Community Guidelines using the in-app report button available on every Chant and comment. Reported content is reviewed within a 24-hour SLA. Moderation actions include dismissal, content hiding, and account banning. Users can block other users to prevent seeing their content and messages. All users must accept the Tarosyn End User License Agreement (EULA), which prohibits harmful, abusive, or age-inappropriate content.

5. content safeguards

In addition to human moderation, Tarosyn employs technical safeguards to reduce the likelihood of age-inappropriate content reaching users:

AI-generated readings are routed through our AI Safety Policy which includes content filters and output safeguards. Oracle and Mystic chat personas are configured with safety instructions that prevent them from producing content that is sexually explicit, graphically violent, or otherwise harmful. Photo uploads are restricted to image formats only and are scanned for compliance before being made visible to other users.

6. parental guidance

Tarosyn is not intended for users under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has created a Tarosyn account, please contact us immediately at [email protected] with the subject line Minor Account Report. We will investigate and delete the account promptly.

Parental controls offered by iOS (Screen Time) and Android (Family Link) can also be used to restrict access to Tarosyn at the device level before a child encounters the app.
