Appeals Process

Tarosyn enforces its Community Guidelines and Content Moderation Policy to keep the community safe and respectful. We recognise that moderation decisions are not always perfect. This page explains how to request a review of a decision you believe was made in error.

1. what decisions can be appealed

You may submit an appeal for any of the following enforcement actions applied to your account or content:

Content removal: A Chant post, comment, Circle message, direct message, uploaded image, or other piece of content was removed by a moderator. Feature restriction: Your ability to post, send messages, or use specific platform features was temporarily suspended. Account suspension: Your account was suspended for a defined period and you could not access the app. Permanent account ban: Your account was permanently closed. Appeals for permanent bans are accepted in all cases except those involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which are not eligible for appeal under any circumstances. Warning or strike: A formal warning was added to your account record that could affect future enforcement decisions.

Permanent bans issued for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) are not eligible for appeal under any circumstances.

2. how to submit an appeal

The fastest way to appeal is with our in-app form. It pre-fills your account details and makes sure we capture everything we need to review your case.

Submit an appeal

Prefer email? You can also reach us at [email protected] with the subject line "Moderation Appeal".

Please include the following information in your appeal email so that our team can locate and review your case promptly:

Your username or registered email address — so we can identify your account. The date or approximate date — of the enforcement action you are disputing. A description of the content or action — involved — for example, the text of a post that was removed or the circumstances of a suspension. Why you believe the decision was incorrect — Explain how the content or conduct did not violate our Community Guidelines or moderation policies. Any supporting context — (optional) Screenshots, timestamps, or other information that may help the reviewer understand the situation.

Incomplete appeals may take longer to resolve. Providing the details above gives your case the best chance of a prompt and accurate review.

3. review timeline

All appeals are reviewed by a member of our moderation team who was not involved in the original decision. This separation ensures an independent and impartial evaluation of every appeal.

Standard appeals: Resolved within 5 business days of receipt. Complex or escalated cases: Some appeals — particularly those involving permanent bans or legal considerations — may require additional time. We will notify you if your appeal requires more than 5 business days. Acknowledgement: You will receive an email acknowledgement within 2 business days confirming that your appeal has been received and is under review.

4. possible outcomes

After completing its review, the appeals team will notify you of the outcome by email. The possible outcomes are:

Appeal upheld — decision reversed: The original enforcement action is reversed. Removed content is restored (where technically possible), suspended accounts are reinstated, and any associated warnings or strikes are removed from your account record. Appeal upheld — decision modified: The enforcement action is modified — for example, a permanent ban is reduced to a time-limited suspension — where we find the original action was disproportionate. Appeal denied — decision upheld: The original enforcement action stands. We will explain the basis for this decision in our reply.

Tarosyn's appeals decision is final. We do not accept further appeals on the same enforcement action once a determination has been made, unless you provide materially new information not available at the time of the original appeal.
